Back in Jan 2017, after a successful first year run of Sonali Satsangi Photography, working with great clients, I wanted to do something for the betterment of the society. I changed my perspective with the new year and decided to show the world how BEAUTIFUL and EMPOWERING women are with no makeup, no hair styling, no fancy clothing & no retouching. This thought led to the birth of the project, TRUE ME.
TRUE ME is a non-profit project that focuses on EMBRACING YOUR TRUE SELF & YOUR NATURAL BEAUTY.
Ever since 2017, every year without fail, I host a TRUE ME portrait session for a day or two and invite women I know to participate.
I have always suffered from insecurities about my skin. It was very easy to hide it all with a little touch of makeup, TRUE ME helped me accept my flaws and be at peace with my skin. Through this project, I believe to INSPIRE young girls, ladies, and women of different races, to EMBRACE their INNER BEAUTY and learn to accept & love their body, just the way it helped me grow and look beyond my insecurity.
TRUE ME session portrait reveals are very personal and emotional. It is such a pleasure seeing how every women who participates leaves with a smile on her face, tears in her eyes and a remark “Am I This Beautiful?”.
